Since 2009, more than 15,000 people have attended the Celebrity Softball Jam to enjoy celebrity softball and music from bands such as Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kevin Fowler, Randy Rogers Band, Dale Watson, Ray Benson, Paula Nelson, Jason Boland, Hayes Carll, Micky & The Motorcars, and many others.

More than $100,000 have been contributed to area non-profits which support youth sports in central Texas, primarily to refurbish Little League Baseball fields in need of repair, and to provide funding for The Miracle League - a sporting league for children with special needs.

So far, support has been provided to Little League teams and players in South Austin, Balcones and Montopolis, as well as The Miracle League in North Austin and in San Antonio. In 2011, Dell Valle Little League will be the beneficiary of the Softball Jam, as well both Miracle Leagues previously supported.

Reckless Recycling Program

Got gently used or outgrown baseball and softball gear? Clean out those closets and give a deserving kid a chance to play! Gloves, bats, balls, cleats ... every type of equipment is needed. Drop off donations of new or used gear at the Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam on Sunday, April 22, and get two FREE tickets to a future Round Rock Express game. Donation bins will be located at each gate; gear will be distributed among several local youth leagues. Please do what you can to help area kids experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime!

Reckless Kelly front man Willy Braun and Venus Avila, one of the “Lowe’s Heroes” volunteers who donated their time and tools for the day, work on picnic tables at the Balcones Youth Sports field in Central Austin on November 2, putting to use some of the funds raised at Reckless Kelly’s 2nd Celebrity Softball Jam, held in April at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Reckless Kelly band members and “Lowe’s Heroes” volunteers from Lowe’s of Northeast Austin and Lowe’s of Hutto celebrate the work accomplished last week at the Balcones Youth Sports Field on bleachers, picnic tables, bathroom walls and floors, and bullpens.
